Meet the Development Department

Ann Lawrence Grasty
Vice President for Development

Ann Lawrence Grasty was named Vice President for Development in November 2011, having served as Montpelier's Director of Major Gifts since September 2010. Before coming to Montpelier, Ann Lawrence was general manager of the John Deere dealership in Charlottesville and Orange, VA. Prior to that, she spent 14 years in sales and marketing positions for Anheuser-Busch, Inc. Ann Lawrence received a degree from University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce in 1992.

Karen Costello
Manager of Development Operations

Karen Costello, a twenty-year member of the Development department, is Montpelier Manager of Development Operations. She was named to her current position in January 2012. Throughout her career, Karen has worked on every aspect of development, including gift processing and special events. Karen began her work at Montpelier in February, 1988, as a receptionist.

Krista Costello
Development Coordinator

Krista Costello has been Montpelier's Development Coordinator since December 2011. She began work at Montpelier in October 2005, and served as the department's Administrative Assistant and Development Administrator before being named to her current position. Prior to coming to Montpelier, Krista worked for 6 years as a retail office manager.

Maggie Patton
Development Project Manager

Maggie Patton began work at Montpelier in March 2012 as Grant and Proposal Coordinator, and she was named Development Project Manager in August 2012. Before her work at Montpelier, Maggie was Education Manager at the Virginia Discovery Museum in Charlottesville, VA. Maggie completed her B.A. at University of Virginia in 2007 and M.A. at University of Chicago in 2010.

Jenny Simmons
Development Data Assistant

Jenny Simmons has worked as the Development Data Assistant since December 2011. Prior to joining the Development Department, she was the receptionist in Montpelier's Executive Office and provided administrative support to the Center for the Constitution. Jenny volunteered for Montpelier in Archaeology and Special Events as well as for Americorps in 2008-2009. She received a B.A. from University of North Texas in 2007.
